Therefore the VDI 5800 standard for hospitals stands for the protection of the environment, efficiency, quality, hygiene and safety. In Germany alone 1 million cases of hospital infections are reported plus at least 500.000 cases of medical malpractice. Prof. Dr. Horst Weißsieker is the chairman of the VDI 5800 „Sustainable Hospital”, deputy chairman of the VDI 2083 „Cleanrooms”.
